ICON Dance Company Inc. was founded in 2019 by siblings Jen and Chris Zacharias. Entering our 7th season of dance education, we welcome all students and new dancers to join the classes and programs we have created. Our studio teaches ADAPT Jazz/Tap and RAD Ballet Syllabus. Classes in Hip Hop, Acro, Contemporary/Lyrical and Musical Theatre are also available. We have a Competitive Program that offers dancers an opportunity to perform at a higher level on a team of their peers! Miss. Jen Zacharias
Founder / Director / Teacher
Miss. Jen Zacharias is Co-Owner and Director of ICON Dance Company. She has been teaching and educating students in dance for over 20 years. She has been dancing since the age of 3 and trained in multiple disciplines of dance. She has also completed all levels of ADAPT Jazz exams. She is an accomplished instructor and choreographer.
Miss. Jen is a certified ADAPT teacher in Jazz and Tap, and is certified in Acrobatic Arts Level 1 and 2. She has had many students show great success in exams and hopes to continue that legacy at ICON Dance Company.
Miss Jen has also choreographed hundreds of competitive routines throughout her career, she brings unique and special choreography to each dancer and routine, and has received many accolades for her dances.
Mr. Chris. Zacharias
Founder / Director / Teacher
Mr. Chris Zacharias is Co-Owner and Director at ICON Dance Company. Having spent most of his life in the dance world in Calgary, he grew up dancing and training from the age of 9. He has spent many years taking classes from various choreographers, in many different styles of dance.
He is an ADAPT certified teacher in both Tap and Jazz. He has taken many years of teacher education to further the ever growing expectation of dance. He also attends multiple seminars and conventions to get new insight and inspiration to pass to all of his students.
Mr. Chris is an accomplished choreographer who has spent many hours choreographing and perfecting hundreds of dance routines throughout his career. His choreography has won multiple overall and choreography awards, for which his students are very proud.
Miss. Avery Bjornson
Teacher / Choreographer
We are so excited to have Miss Avery returning for her 4th year of teaching at ICON Dance Company!
Starting as a student at ICON in 2019, Miss Avery has grown into an inspiring teacher and choreographer. She has been dancing since the age of 2 and continues to train with choreographers across Calgary, always expanding her knowledge and passion for dance. Over the past few years, she has also choreographed for companies and shows in Calgary, further developing her artistry.
This season, Miss Avery will be teaching Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, Acro, Jazz, and Lyrical/Contemporary. She motivates her students to always do their best, bringing positivity, dedication, and creativity into every class. We can't wait to see the impact she makes in Season 7!
Miss. Adrianna Kynoch
Teacher / Choreographer
We are thrilled to welcome Miss Adrianna back to the ICON teaching staff for her 4th year!
A part of ICON Dance Company since its very beginning in 2019, Miss Adrianna has grown from student to teacher, bringing strong leadership, positivity, and guidance to every dancer she works with. While continuing her studies at university, she shares her love of dance with passion and dedication.
This season, Miss Adrianna will be teaching Jazz, Ballet, Acro, Musical Theatre, and Contemporary/Lyrical. Her positive energy and love for dance shine through in every class, and we are so excited to see her continue to inspire our dancers in Season 7!
Miss. Jacqueline Johnson
Teacher / Choreographer
We are so excited to have Miss Jacqueline back for her 4th year teaching at ICON Dance Company!
With over a decade of teaching experience, Miss Jacqueline brings creativity, passion, and a wealth of knowledge to every class. She has been dancing since the age of 3, is ADAPT certified, and studied dance for four years in Toronto, giving her both professional training and teaching expertise to share with her students.
This season, Miss Jacqueline will be teaching Contemporary, Lyrical, and Jazz. Her dedication and artistry inspire dancers to grow not only in their technique, but also in their love for dance. We can’t wait to see her bring her talent and energy into Season 7!
Miss. Cara Lopez - Orellana

We are beyond excited to welcome Miss Cara back for Season 7 at ICON Dance Company!
Miss Cara has been a valued part of our faculty for 7 years, specializing in all things Ballet. After taking a step back last season for maternity leave, we are thrilled to have her back in the studio sharing her expertise, artistry, and love for dance with our students.
Her passion for ballet and dedication to her dancers have made her an integral part of the ICON family, and we can’t wait to see her inspire a new season of growth and excellence!
